Film review: Spider-man homecoming (2017)

Synopsis:

Peter Parker returns home and live with his aunt May. He becomes neighbourhood spiderman under Tony Stark guidance. He has crushed on Michelle his school friend, he later found out that vulture is michelle' dad has terrible plan and peter determined to stop his plans.

Review:

Watching this spider-man is like turning back time to spiderman before andrew garfield era. Maybe around tobey macguire era. The spiderman suit he had is just like cosplay contest and later tony stark gave him better spiderman costume.

He is acrobatic and he able to make spiderman liquid chemical for the spiderweb. What I like about this film is that this film is like down-to-earth storyline, the story is pretty clear in this film without super hi-tech weapon or enemy. What I don't like is this film is too old fashion, I expect this film to be more modern or at east better than andrew garfield spiderman era.

I think this film is suitable for kids and pre teenager. This film is for introducing spiderman to those who never exactly knew who spiderman is. Yet, I think if you watch tobey macguire or andrew garfield spiderman, you will not surpise of this film. I think this film is still good to watch because it has good storyline and plot, actors also good and entertaining.

Film Review : Despicable Me 3 (2017)

Review :

I find it's quite funny that I watch Despicable Me 1, ignore Despicable Me 2, and now watch Despicable Me 3. Because of that, I missed the part when Gru married Jane and become super secret spy or so I was told in the film. Actually I really enjoy Despicable Me 1, but I cannot say the same for Despicable Me 3. It's not bad film or have bad story. It just that the story a little bland for my liking despite the twin arc story. And the minion role itself is quite limited despite being one of the biggest appeal for this film. Maybe if the script writer make Dru as the villain, it would be quite enjoyable compare to Bratz bad boy theme. I don't know why but I cannot take Bratz seriously. Maybe the moustache and hair ruined it for me. or Maybe the background itself is not convincing. But overall, he is not memorable as villain or any character at all. Heck even the new boss (whom only appear for several seconds) have better charisma than him. But of course, that's just me. Hope Despicable Me 4 will be much better.

Nevertheless, I still recommend this movie for people who want to have some fun with Dru and Gru antic hero combination to save the world.

Film review: Knocked up (2007)

Synopsis:

Alison Scott who worked at E entertainment has one night stand with Ben Stone, later she found out that she is pregnant with his child. Could they find happiness in their togetherness?

Review:

I like Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen, they are really have good chemistry here and really hilarious. Everything they did together just really funny and entertaining. Heigl as Alison Scott really beautiful independent woman with good career at E entertainment and Ben Stone is even living illegally and did nude video editing with his friends.

It's just good to see them interact each other, getting to know each other, make love together and make fun together. I like the scene when Ben Stone propose to Alison Scott, where he propose with empty box and promise to her that he will work hard to buy good ring for her. it's bittersweet romance.

After their great fight at Alison' car, they reunite when Alison give birth to their child. This drama is entertaining and will not bore you at all. Overall this is the simple sweet funny romance drama I really recommend if you bored at home especially on weekend.

Genre: Science Fiction, Space Opera
Publisher: Wise Ink Creative Publishing
Release date: June 6, 2017
Tour dates: May 22 to July 14, 2017
Content Rating: PG-13 + M (violence, non-explicit sex, language)

Book Description:

In the second installment of the award-winning Horizon series, Dr. Caeli Crys returns to her war-torn world to fight for those she left behind.

Almagest, Caeli’s home, stands on the brink of revolution. Long hidden from the rest of the galaxy, the once-peaceful planet suffers under a regime that grows more violent and oppressive by the day. Marcus, Almagest’s dictator, is building an arsenal of alien weaponry by selling empathic children into slavery. A resistance has risen, but they are outmanned, outgunned, and in hiding.

Joined by Commander Derek Markham and his elite squadron of operatives, Caeli embarks on a dangerous mission to find the Resistance, rescue her captive people, and save her civilization from destruction.

Review :

Infinity is direct sequel from Horizon. So, it was really advised for you to read Horizon (book one) first before this one.  If you like Horizon, no doubt you will also like Infinity. The mission from Horizon continue in this book. You get the same main characters with same supporting characters. In addition, you get more background about the characters. But I have to warned though that the story was more action oriented in this one.

This book combined both missions between saving Caeli planet from Marcus and prevent outside forces (I forget the name) from annihilating it. The story was faster in this one since it is direct sequel.

Unfortunately, I don't really like the ending. It was quite predictable for my liking. You kind of expected some twist but it was none. But, fortunately the cliff hanger saved the ending. Well, I hope you know what I mean ^^. I really recommend this book for people who like to read planetary science fiction.

Synopsis:

Lucy Hutton hates Joshua Templeman because he is her competitor for position of COO for B&G company where they both worked. Love grow between them and one of them has to give up the position of the COO for their relationship

Review:

This is the first book of Sally Thorne and it is really good. I enjoy it. The writing itself is good. The character of Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman is very clear. I know what kind of person of Joshua and Lucy. Joshua is a stubborn man, hard to please man which paid attention to cleanliness and detail. On the other hand, Lucy Hutton is messy petite girl who try to survive living in big city and makes her parents proud.

In the beginning, they hate each other. But as the time passed on, they started to notice each other' clothes, hobby and their likeness of each other. When Lucy sick, Josh is taking care of her and they start to be friends. Lucy even stand for Josh in front of Josh' father, Anthony.

Review :

I really love the cover and the tittle. It was really simple but the image is lovely and the color is easy for the eyes.  Overall, the cover itself is already a selling point for me.

Another selling point is the blurb. Science fiction check. Space adventure check. Military action check. Wounded pilot check. All in all, it is a must read for me. First I want to talk about the characters. Well, the main character is Commander Derek Markham. He is pilot from space. I have to admit that the opening is quite strong and to the point. Caeli scenes also help. I really like this couple. Both of them actually are your typical hero and heroine but still have their own voice. The author really create unique situations for them to complement each other and volla we have near to perfect relationship. Other characters are Derek colleague from the same organization. At first it was quite annoying to be introduced to several characters in the same military organization at the same time. It makes you wonder what the difference between all of them. But, after several scenes, you understand that they have their own roles. I mean I don't like story with too many characters just for the sake of being there. I quite like the good guys. But I cannot the say the same things with the bad guys. At first the bad guys are interesting but at the end, the bad guys just have to lose their sparks

The story itself is ordinary. There's civil war, rebel, and threat from outsides. Still this is not war story. But that was expected from this kind of genre. It was an action story with science fiction element after all. In fact, if it was not typical, I won't like it. Still there are some kind of narratives that explore here and there to create more complex situations. I will be honest, this story continue into book two (Infinity). Book one tell more story about the characters past rather than dealing with the conflict. That's why you need to continue into Infinity (book two) to get more satisfying and conclusive ending. Book two is direct sequel from book one. So, I recommend you to get both books at the same time because the story from book one will make you craving for more. That's my personal experience though. Ha ha

Anyway, I really recommend this story. because it was expected and yet still managed to make me feel satisfied. Not boring but also not over the top. It was light and won't trouble you with science explanation. But still create great reading experience for me. If you like me, I hope you will like it too.

Film Review: 5 to 7 (2014)

Synopsis:

A married woman named Arelle meet writer Brian Bloom and they agree to meet at 5 to 7 pm. Later they have affair and they have to decide where their relationship is ahead to.

Review:

This story is unique. At first I was doubt when I read the synopsis somewhere, yet I still try to watch this film and I did not regret it. This film is beautiful. A French woman who married to French diplomat and have 2 kids fall in love with young writer. She support him to be a writer. They have affair and love each other. Though in our society this kind of love would be called 'affair', but Arielle think she is truly feel love at the first time. She feel she did not love her husband and she thought its just youth mistake.

When Brian decide to be Arielle husband, she finally refused because she has commitment to her husband and her kids. Yet they still keep their love for each other. Brian publish book about "The mermaid" which is inspired from Arielle and Arielle keep put the ring Brian gave her. It is very romantic yet matured love. I like how Arielle and Brian connect to each other. They are really complement each other.

I really recommend this film if you like romance film.

Korean Drama: Dong Yi (2009)

Synopsis:

Dong Yi is low born girl who lost his father and brother due to incident that blame the sword fraternity which his father is the leader at that time. Dong Yi determined to enter the palace and find the cause of her father and brother' death.

Review:

This is the longest Korean Drama I watched recently, it has 60 episodes. I mainly watch because of Bae Soo Bin who acts as chun soo, Dong Yi' protector and brother. As usual, his act is no doubt brilliant in this series. Han Hyo Joo as Dong Yi really done her job really well. She is beautiful and really suitable as Dong Yi.

In the beginning, the seer told consort Hui that she can reach the top position in palace but she will always become the shadow of the girl who has nothing but will get everything, if she meet this girl, she better not to fight head to head with this girl, because she can not beat the light from this girl, as long as she lived, the light will always shine, who later we know this girl is Dong Yi. As you see the drama tell about the palace politics between consort Hui and Dong Yi. At first she liked her intelligent and later feel threatened with Dong Yi especially when she realized that king loved Dong Yi very much and she feel abandoned and bittered.

The 60 episodes told about the struggling of Dong Yi, how Dong Yi who is coming as slave in Music bureau and later she promoted to be lady investigator and later became Consort Chun, but she refused to be a queen. She preferred to leave outside palace and do something to help poor peoples and bring justice to them.

This series also tell the love story between Dong Yi and King, How King pursue Dong Yi and want her to be his royal consort. The love story itself is bittersweet with some humor, you will not get bored. At first, Dong Yi did not know that he is the king because he said he is the justice officer. Later she knows and their love story continued to grow.

If you really liked romance or historical drama, you should watch this drama, its worthed.

Film Review : Detective Conan The Crimson Love Letter (2017)

Review :

This is the second time I watch Detective Conan movie. Actually I don't intend to watch this movie but since I get free ticket, I decide to watch this movie. Besides I am quite impressed with Detective Conan The Darkest Nightmare. The graphic is simple but the song and story is quite memorable. I don't know why but it seems mandatory for Detective Conan movie to follow certain pattern like grand explosions at the beginning and end of movie. Still I like it. Personally I prefer The Darkest Nightmare than this one. Not to say that The Crimson Love Letter story is bad, it just I like Tohru Amuro and Dark Organization oriented story more.

The main characters are Heiji and Kazuha. Detective Conan fans must already familiar with them. In this case, Heiji and Kazuha have to deal with murder case involving Karuta game. Besides there's another player named Momiji Ooka, who claimed to be Heiji fiancee. The story is your typical Detective Conan story but longer since there are several murders and mystery. To be honest I am quite surprised that Crimson Love Letter box office surpassed the Darkest Nightmare. Personally I think in terms of story, The Crimson Love Letter is quite ordinary but everyone have different taste after all.

Anyway, I recommend this movie for Detective Conan fans and anime fans. The story is simple but quite fun and enjoyable regardless.

Game Review : Orwell

Review :

Orwell is my newest game. I bought it at Steam Summer Sale 2017. It was sale with 50% discount. No I am not buying it on impulse because I already play it with demo. And the demo impressed me. I think most developers should provide demo for their games. That way people would be willing to try it and if they like it buy it. Anyway, Orwell is game about surveillance. Basically you are an "investigator" trying to investigate Bonton bombing case. Unique name isn't it ?! LOL. Anyway, the game is very intuitive and user friendly. So no need to worry how to play it. Basically your job is to provide Orwell with "data chunk" regarding the case via website, chat, phone, PC. Some time, there are also conflicting "data chunk" that depend on our choice can affect the outcome. And I like the idea, that we are also part of the story. Well I cannot say more without spoiling it.

Anyway, that is the picture of Bonton. Quite simple but beautiful. I like the graphic. Unfortunately, that's the only one. Most of the time, we just scroll inside Orwell mainframe and interacting with our advisor Symes. In total, there are 5 episodes that we have to play to find the culprit and get our endings. Overall, there are 3 major endings with little minor one. At this time, I only managed to get one ending because I need to replay it from episode 1 (maybe ?) if I want to get the other endings. Maybe next time.

Unfortunately, despite the uniqueness, I think it was quite short. Maybe about 5-6 hours (excluding replay). It would be great if developers make longer episode and more complicated story. Make it more dramatic or something like that. More office politics and dilemma. Maybe I just have high standards. Anyway, I really recommend this game for people whom like to play with unique and great story with multiple endings. But some people may be put off by so many texts. So better to try the demo first to find whether you will like it or not.

Book Review: In flight (up in the air series) (2012)

Synopsis:

Bianca Karlsson meet James Cavendish in the first class cabin. They immediately attract each other sensually. Bianca has violent childhood and she determine to overcome her fear and be with James.

Review:

This series is BDSM love stories between James and Bianca. James Cavendish is womanizer and strongly attracted to first class flight attendant Bianca Karlsson. I thought I would enjoy this book like I enjoyed Fifty Shades series or Crossfire series, but seems I did not enjoy this series as those two series.

Here are my points:
  • James Cavendish is not a hero man for me, he seems to be a good business man according to his conversation to his subordinates yet is not clearly mention what the nature of his business. I only feel he is just sex maniac.
  • It only mention that James' guardian had sex assault him by giving him something like sleeping pill so he will not realize what his guardian did to him. Is this affect him much to be BDSM addict? If yes, he should go to shrink like Christian Grey or Gideon Cross. Yet he does not have any shrink and either so Bianca. Bianca herself is child abuse survivor by his father' violence behaviour. Both of them should go to shrink in my opinion. Yet both of them just buried their past and have constant sex as their release. I don't think this is healthy for their future relationship.
  • The books itself is BDSM theme like Fifty Shades series. Yet this series is more hardcore BDSM. BDSM is not my scene, yet I still enjoy Fifty Shades series. I feel disturbed by this hardcore BDSM in this series. I really think both of them just purely lust to have sex, I don't feel any love only lust. If you don't like BDSM, I don't think this series for you, especially this is hardcore BDSM. James himself is addict to threesome according to his ex submissive and he likes to pierce sensitive part of his favorite submissive, can we trust him to be good lover? honestly I don't think this guy could 180 degree change by couple of months.
  • I think this series is lack of actual problems. I know Bianca' father still hunting her and Bianca even contact police and the police even release Bianca' father. She finally decide to tell the truth about his father' crime toward her mother and there are some annoying James ex' submissive like Jolene or Jules. I still feel there are no serious danger in this series.
  • If you like steamy and hot sex, this series just for you. This series contain of very much dirty talks rather than romantic words.
The series itself has good writing and will keep you going if you don't mind with hardcore BDSM or constant sex and dirty talks, this series is for you. This book is all about BDSM and sex.

Book Review: The Air He Breathes (Elements #1, 2015)

Synopsis:

Both Tristan and Elizabeth lost their love ones. Tristan lost his wife and son in the accident that he think he is the who's responsible and Elizabeth lost her husband and her father. They met in unfavourable condition and they hope they can overcome their past and find happiness together. could they?

Review:

I found this story is too dramatic and dragging. I want to love the book, but there are couple of things I wonder..

1. If Tristan is so fucked up and isolated and keep feeling big guilty emotion in himself, why he don't tried to talk to someone or therapist? Why he just being asshole to peoples as one of his release?

2. Elizabeth also same either, she thought therapist were supposed to help you move on, and I didn't want to move on. I yearned to go backward (chapter 15), I thought Elizabeth better seek therapist too? At least Elizabeth is better, she realized she need therapist just did not want to.

So, I get both of them don't want to move on and tend to stay in their past memories. First, I thought I start to enjoy the story when Tristan and Elizabeth start to make love each other as if they did with their old lovers. But then, Problems comes like Tanner who pursued Elizabeth like crazy and Elizabeth husband is the one who drives car and crash Tristan' wife and son. I don't like how dramatic and emotional Tristan. He is not my favorite character. He is too childish to overcome his own issues. I think he needs time to settle himself before he can take care and settle with Elizabeth. Honestly, I am not sure that if Tristan loves Elizabeth if he can't love himself well.

I am thinking to read other books in this series.  This first book does not really convince me to read the others.

K-drama: Temptation of an angel (2009)

Synopsis:

Jo Ah Ran married to Shin Hyun Woo in order to revenge her parents dead that caused by Shin Hyun Woo father. She wants to ruin Shin Hyun Woo family business. Jo Ah Ran herself is in relationship with Nam Joo Seung. Jo Ah Ran tried to kill Shin Hyun Woo several times then until one day, Shin Hyun Woo successfully escaped from Ah Ran Trap and running away. He do plastic surgery and change name to be Ahn Jae Seung. Ahn Jae Seung is very attractive man and determine to revenge what Jo Ah Ran did to him.

Review:

This is the most complicating and twisting Korean drama I ever watched. It is thriller drama, which is not really my scene. The story itself like cat and mouse, one put the trap, the other has to find out and tackle to survive. Jo Ah Ran determine to revenge and kill Shin Hyun Woo and he tried a couple of times to survive from Ah Ran' plan.

I watch this drama because Bae Soo Bin is my favorite korean actor and I am not regretting it. Bae Soo Bin as Ahn Jae Seung act like attractive man who is successful and romantic. I am not enjoy the cat and mouse trap itself but I enjoy Bae Soo Bin acting. My favorite episode is at episode 17 when Ahn Jae Seung asked Jo Ah Ran to dance in the middle of night, and he said as long Joo Ah Ran follow him, everything will be alright. Though I know its just Ahn Jae Seung' fake drama to trap Joo Ah Ran, still if its real, it is pretty romantic scene.

The ending itself is twisting where Yoon Jae Hae apparently is Joo Ah Ran sister, so Shin Hyun Woo can't marry her. This is not happy ending drama. It's a drama that full of vengeance, hatred and ambition.

Game Review : Cinderella Phenomenon

Review :

I really like this game. At first, I thought this is just another otome visual novel in which we have to choose our love interest. But, that's not the case here. This game have great and sad story. The characters are interesting. The visual was stunning and the music are amazing. I really like it. Really memorable.

Basically most characters are curse with fairy tale curse. Our job is to free them from their curses and save the kingdom. There are five routes that you can choose. Each route have two endings (good and bad) depend on your choice. At first you can only choose 3 routes which is Rod, Karma, and Rumpel. After finishing 2 of 3 routes, the other 2 (Flitz and Waltz) will open. The developer recommend you play Rod, Karma, Rumpel, Flitz, and Waltz first in term of story line. My favorite route is Waltz. But the saddest one is Flitz. My least favorite route is Rumpel. Maybe because he is different from other potential love interest. Anyway, Prepare some tissues before playing ^^.

The game is free on steam. I cannot say thank you enough for the Dicesuki (developer) who make it free. I will most likely buy their next game if there's one. You can also get the game via itch.io Cinderella Phenomenon

There are more great songs. But these two is the one I like the most.

I really recommend this game for people who love visual novel or want to try visual novel game.

Film Review : Wonder Woman (2017)

Review :

I already anticipating this movie from a long time because of Chris Pine. Maybe you don't know but I am his fans since Star Trek movie release. I watch this movie on the opening weekend and really like it. It is very great. At first I am not really sure whether Gal Gadot is the right actress to play this role. But now I can say that Gal Gadot is one of the best thing about Wonder Woman. Maybe because she is fighter herself (serving in military for 2 years).

The story itself is pretty simple and straight forward. Of course there are twist in the end. But it was not surprising. Maybe because it was less dramatic. After all the focus is on the action. Remind me about Xmen.

Unfortunately there are still certain things that can be improved if it want to compete with Marvel super hero. It lacks emotional impact. I feel sad but also not sad at the same time. The music is pretty ordinary. Nothing memorable. Even the ending is quite simple. I can understand why. Maybe because they haven't decided what's happen next. So, they play safe at the expense of no suspense.

Anyway, I really enjoy it very much. I really recommend this movie.

Book Spotlight : Positively Pippa by Sarah Hegger

Overview :

“Sarah Hegger's voice is rich and witty and in a word, addictive.” --Terri Osburn

From author Sarah Hegger comes an exciting new series set in small-town Utah, where secrets don’t keep for long—and love turns up in the most unexpected places.

For Pippa Turner there’s only one place to go when her life self-destructs on national TV—home to Ghost Falls, and her heavily perfumed, overly dramatic, but supremely loving grandmother, Philomene. If anyone will understand how Pippa’s hit makeover show was sabotaged by her vengeful ex, it’s Phi. But she’s not the only one who’s happy to see her—and Pippa can’t help but wonder if Matt Evans, her gorgeous high-school crush turned Phi’s contractor, is game for a steamy close-up…
Matt owes his whole career to Phi and her constant demands to embellish the gothically ridiculous house he built for her. Getting to see red-headed, red-hot Pippa is a bonus, especially now that she’s no longer the troublesome teenager he remembers. He’s willing to stay behind the scenes while she gives her own life a much-needed makeover, but not forever. As far as he’s concerned, their connection is too electric to ignore. And the chance to build something lasting between them—before she can high-tail it back to Hollywood—is going to the top of his to-do list…

Excerpt :

“Aren’t you—?”

“No.” Not anymore she wasn’t. Pippa snatched her boarding pass from the check-in attendant and tugged her baseball cap lower over her eyes. Couldn’t Kim Kardashian help a girl out and release another sex tape or something? Anything to get Pippa away from the social media lynch mob. She kept her head down until she found her gate, and chose the seat farthest away from the other passengers waiting to board the flight to Salt Lake City. Latest copy of Vogue blocking her face, she flipped through the glossy pages.

Peeping over the top of her magazine she slammed straight into the narrowed gaze of a woman three rows over. Shit! Pippa dropped the woman’s gaze and went back to Vivienne Westwood bucking the trend.

Across the airport lounge the woman’s glare beamed into the top of her head like those laser tracking things you saw in spy movies. Pippa buckled under the burn and slouched lower into her seat.

Look at that, Fendi was doing fabulous separates this season. And really, Ralph Lauren, that’s your idea of a plus-size model? Stuff like this made her job so much harder.

Her former job.

Losing her show still clawed at her. Losing? Like she’d left the damn thing at Starbucks as she picked up her morning latte. More like her jackass ex with zero conscience had knocked it out of her hand. Framed, stitched up, wrongfully accused—judged, found guilty, and sentenced to a plethora of public loathing wiping out all the years spent building her career. Burning sense of injustice aside, she was stuck in this thing until it went away.

Angry Woman lurked in her peripheral vision. As sweat slid down her sides, Pippa tucked her elbows in tight and risked another glance.

Under an iron-gray row of rigidly permed bangs, the woman’s mouth puckered up.

Back to Vogue. The knot in her stomach twisted tighter, and she checked her cap. What the hell? A baseball cap and shades always worked for other celebrities. Why not her?

Angry Woman squared her shoulders and huffed.

This could go one of two ways. Either Angry Woman would come over and give her a piece of her mind on behalf of women everywhere, or she’d confine her anger to vicious staring and muttering. Maybe some head shaking. Please don’t let her be a crusader for women. Please, please, please. After two weeks of glares, stares and condemnation, Pippa had gotten the message:

Pippa St. Amor, the woman America loves to hate.

Right now, all she wanted was to sneak home and stay there until someone else topped her scandal. God, didn’t Vogue have anything fresh? She’d make a list. Lists were good. Soothing. Item one, run away from Angry Woman and hide in the bathroom. Item two, get your career back. She moved item two up to first place, where it had been since she left home at eighteen, and gauged the distance between her and the bathroom door. She’d never make it.

Angry Woman lifted her phone and snapped a shot of Pippa.

Damn, she’d forgotten that option; this one by far the worst. God, she hated Twitter. And Facebook. And Instagram, and Snapchat, and whatever-the-hell new social torment site some asshat was thinking up right this minute. The ongoing public derision chipped off bits of her until she felt like an open nerve ending.

A friend huddled next to Angry Woman, long hair that was totally the wrong shade of brown and aged her by ten years at least. If Pippa had her on the show, Long Hair would be wearing a cute, hip cut, a fresh new makeup look, and mile-wide smile with her new sense of self.

The reveals never got old. There was something about a woman finally seeing her own beauty that made all the other crap that went with a television career worth it. Ray had ripped that away from her too.

Pippa was getting it with double barrels now. Lips tight, matching twin spots of outraged color staining their cheeks as they whispered over Angry Woman’s phone. They both wore mom jeans. Up until two weeks ago it had been her mission to deliver moms everywhere from jeans like that. Along with those nasty, out of shape T-shirts they sold in three-packs of meh colors that had no business existing on the color spectrum. Angry and Long Hair were so her demographic. They’d probably seen the original episode live and watched it over and over again on demand or something. Maybe even watching it right this minute on YouTube.

YouTube! She hated YouTube, too.

Why didn’t they call her flight already and get her the hell out of here?

About Author :

Born British and raised in South Africa, Sarah Hegger suffers from an incurable case of wanderlust. Her match? A hot Canadian engineer, whose marriage proposal she accepted six short weeks after they first met. Together they’ve made homes in seven different cities across three different continents (and back again once or twice). If only it made her multilingual, but the best she can manage is idiosyncratic English, fluent Afrikaans, conversant Russian, pigeon Portuguese, even worse Zulu and enough French to get herself into trouble.

Mimicking her globe trotting adventures, Sarah’s career path began as a gainfully employed actress, drifted into public relations, settled a moment in advertising, and eventually took root in the fertile soil of her first love, writing. She also moonlights as a wife and mother.

She currently lives in Littleton, Colorado, with her teenage daughters, an evolving pet army and aforementioned husband. Part footloose buccaneer, part quixotic observer of life, Sarah’s restless heart is most content when reading or writing books.
I love to hear from readers.

Book Review : Dangerous Brains by Erik Hamre

Synopsis :

Brilliant computer scientist, Vladimir Sorovis, is packing up his office when his day is interrupted by a military helicopter carrying a highly unexpected guest.

Ushered to a secret location deep in the Nevada desert, Vladimir learns how his former employer, billionaire and serial-entrepreneur Andrew Kevorkian, has been siphoning off hundreds of millions to fund a clandestine deep tech research lab.

Now the Government holds grave fears for what Kevorkian may have created at his lab.

With world order as we know it at stake, Vladimir and a select team of AI-experts are catapulted into a race against time to understand exactly what they are dealing with.
Things, however, are not always what they seem…

Review :

This is the first time I read story from Mr. Hamre and I can say for sure not the last time. Really great science fiction story.

First I want to talk about the characters. Actually I like all the characters except their names. But of course it was just me. Anyway, the main character is Vladimir Sorovis. He is star engineer working at defunct Neuralgo, brain mapping company. One day he get surprised visit from Head of DARPA because of his involvement with Kevorkian. And the rest they say is history.

Well, I will be honest. At first this story doesn't really interest me. You can say that I have reader block at the time. Don't know why I just cannot finish it, until one day I decide that I have to finish this. And I can tell for sure that I am glad I did it. The story is unique and interesting. It keeps you hook until the end. The ending is really unpredictable. Still there's some mystery left but I can tolerate it because I really like the story. My only critique is the story was quite narrow. I mean I can understand that it want to focus the story only for certain things. But it was done at the expense of making it less grand and quite unbelievable. And the lack of epilogue doesn't help either. Still I appreciated the author efforts to make great science fiction and unpredictable story.

I really recommend this story for all science fiction lovers. Cannot wait for Mr. Hamre next book.

K-drama: Shining Inheritance/Brilliant Legacy (2009)

Synopsis:

Go Eun Sung and his autism brother were devastated by death of their father and they have to survive on their own. Later Go Eun Sung saved a rich grandmother who impressed with her personality and wants to give her inheritance to Eun Sung.

Review:

This is a modern cinderella story. Go Eun Sung need to take care of her autism brother and live on their own selves after being chased out from house by her step mother. Later she meets old grandmother who apparently own Jin Sung Enterprise and wants to give Eun Sung the company as inheritance.

This drama is focus on family story and square love issues. It is quite complicated yet interesting drama. I like all the castings for main role, they really suit for their roles. I like the strong characteristic of the 4 main roles here. Eun Sung is a kind girl who likes to hard work and help other peoples. Hwan is arrogant boy who is very bossy. Seung Mi is a kind girl who loves Hwan and like to do anything just to get Hwan even bad things and Park Jun Se is mature man who likes to pursue his culinary career and protective of Eun Sung.

The story of this drama is pretty unique and I like the connection between Hwan and Eun Sung. They firstly meet because of luggage exchanged issue and later Hwan hates Eun Sung because his grandmother wants Eun Sung to inherit what actually belongs to him. During the process, he starts to feel for Eun Sung and fall in love with her. I like how this drama is taking their connections slowly and not rushing. We can see simple things Hwan did for Eun Sung each episodes. Every episode has something new to happen, this drama keeps moving with each episodes. The only thing I want is I hope this drama has more humor, more funny scenes instead of more tense and sad scenes.

Hwan and Eun Sung relationship starts from hate become love relationship. They disliked each other before fall in love. If you like this kind relationship, this drama is absolutely for you and definitely should be in your list.

My rating: 8/10

K-drama: Jealousy Incarnate (2016)

Synopsis:

A love triangle between Pyo Na Ri, a weather anchor with her fellow Lee Hwa Sin and Lee Hwa Sin bestfriend, Go Jung Won.

Review:

This is one Korean drama that I really feel like to review after Another Miss Oh. I watched some korean drama in between but none really capture my heart. I watched this during my lunch time at this website. I do not have much expectations, but the drama getting more interesting each episode and without my realization, I become addicted to this Korean drama and I love the ost soundtrack of this drama so much. The ost of this drama could be found at youtube.

The story of this drama is pretty simple, Pyo Na Ri had 3 years crush on Lee Hwa Sin, but Lee Hwa Sin always ignored her. Lee Hwa Sin bestfriend, Go Jung Won Likes Pyo Na Ri. Pyo Na Ri always be at Hwa Sin side whenever he needs support. Like when he diagnosed with breast cancer, Pyo Na Ri is always help him and at his side. Slowly Lee Hwa Sin developed feeling for Pyo Na Ri.

What I liked from this drama is its pretty focus on the main characters and the relationship between Pyo Na Ri and Lee Hwa Sin seems natural and slow-but-sure, unlike recent Korean drama which relationship is moving too fast. Although I do not know any actor playing this drama, I have to admit they all have good acting that keeps me going to watch this drama.

What I do not like from this drama is sometimes the story feels like too dragging for couple of episodes, total episode is 24 and with that simple story, Couple of episodes should be combined into one instead of couple of episodes. This love triangle is so simple yet many unnecessary problems or details get into it.

The ones that always be the end of episodes are always about this love triangle scenes that arouse curiosity, nothing else. Yet, this still feel interesting. This drama also suitable for mature audiences. The problems in this drama is pretty heavy like breast cancer and infertility issues. Both Pyo Na Ri and Lee Hwa Sin looks professionals at their job which makes us see them as professional news anchors instead of actors.  I recommend this drama if you like simple love triangle romance. The story is easy to follow and the acting of actors will capture your mind.

My rating: 7/10

Game Review : Top Secret

Dear All,

Currently I am playing game called Top Secret. What ? Top Secret ? What kind of secret ? Well, I know about this game from Kickstarter on 2015. This game was developed by James Long (indie programmer). It just recently released for public.

What kind of game Top Secret is ?

Maybe you guys have some idea after seeing the picture. There's several big radars and a building. Guess what is the connection between big radar and building. Well, it turns out the connection is TOP SECRET. The secret collected by NSA (No Such Agency ??? LOL).

Well, in this game, you played as Senior Intelligence Analyst in NSA. You were given task to find who leaked secret NSA material to Journalists. According to James, this game was inspired by Snowden Leaks. There are 2 ways to play this game. You can play it using real email (with internet connection, real time messages, and real time encryption). Or the simple one, you can play it using computer without internet and immediately (using Fast Forward button of course).

You can see from the picture about. You will get several emails. You have to reply them and from there, you have to find clue. Depending on your reply, it will affects the ending. From what I know there are 4 endings. All this time, I only get 2 endings. Good ending and worst ending

Anyway, the game is quite short. I really mean it. You can finish it less than 30 minutes (of course if you are playing real time, it will take 2 weeks in effect). Overall, this is an interesting and unique games. Unfortunately, it was quite simple and straightforward. Despite multiple ending, actually there are not many choices you can take. You just keep following the story. It would be much better if it was longer and more unpredictable. Anyway, I kind understand the programmer difficulty with that case. Still with enough time and resources, I think it can be implemented. One bad point that I've noted is the game was not released on Steam. So you can only get it via developers web page. The good points is I learned about PGP encryption. So, I can be a little mysterious and secret. Haha

Anyway, I still recommend this game for espionage game lovers. I hope in the future, there will be more and more game played via email. It certainly is very interactive. You can get the game here Top Secret

Update#1 : I already get the 3rd ending. Now I want to change my mind. It looks like 3rd ending is the best one. Because ... well I cannot spoil it right. Cannot wait to get the 4th ending ^^

Update#2 : I can say for sure 4th ending could be your dream comes true or your nightmare depending on your opinion regarding Snowden leaks.

I am glad that I already found all the ending. Still it doesn't change anything about my review.
